Sharon Lee (Gustafson) Plews

Sharon Lee Plews, 77, of Gobles, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, surrounded by her family.

She was born January 25, 1947, in Paw Paw, the oldest child of Gerald Gustafson and Barbara (Rankin) Gustafson.

Sharon was extremely active in her faith and attended church at Gobles United Methodist most of her life and Oshtemo Methodist in her later years.  Sharon sang as a Soprano in the church choir and directed the children's choir for a number of years. Her life revolved around her beloved family and church family. Sharon sang in a country band with her husband and good friends for many years entitled, "Country Spice". She worked at Bronson Hospital for more than 40 years and firmly believed that taking care of her family and others was her life's purpose. She was an avid reader and bookworm. Sharon adored her family, especially her grandchildren and "grand-dogs". She never missed her children's sports activities and supported the other kids as if they were her own. Sharon loved to cook and always made large Sunday dinners for her family. She will be remembered as a kind and selfless individual with a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her son; Robert Plews, daughter; Tammy (Ken) Morand, brother; Barry (Donna) Gustafson and sister; Karen "Gus" Gustafson, two grandchildren; Annaliza Plews and Blain Morand, nephews; Eric (Jackie) and Ben Gustafson, great nephew; Jameson Gustafson.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Gary and best friend of 40 years; Emily Hornev.  Sharon lost her beloved husband Thomas Plews in 1993.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Gobles United Methodist Church, 210 E. Exchange Street, Gobles, with Pastor Shelia Baker and Carol Newman officiating. Following services there will be a luncheon at the church. Private interment will follow at Covey Hill Cemetery in Paw Paw.
