Amy Suzanne Barkenbus

Amy Suzanne Barkenbus, 58, of Pottsville, PA, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 20, 2025. 

She was born August 21, 1966, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of John Barkenbus and Geneva (Gorsuch) Barkenbus.

Amy graduated from Lawton High School. She attended Lake Superior State College and graduated from Western Michigan University. 

Amy enjoyed traveling, indulging in a good book and watching the sunsets. Evident through her jobs, Amy loved to help others in need. She worked as a Paramedic for Van Buren Emergency Medical Services and as a 911 dispatcher for Van Buren County Sheriff's Department. Most recently, she was a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania State Police. 

She is survived by her mother, Geneva Barkenbus; brother, Charles Barkenbus and beloved nephew, Elan Barkenbus. 

Amy was preceded in death by her father, John Barkenbus and grandparents, Tom and Evelyn Barkenbus and Otto and Rena Gorsuch. 

A graveside service for Amy will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawton.
