Paw Paw

On Wednesday December 15, 2021, Anna May (Hofstra) Barber, passed away peacefully at home one week prior to her 86th birthday and into the arms of Jesus Christ. Ann was born to Leonard & Elizabeth Auer on December 21, 1935 in Paw Paw.

Surviving are 3 daughters, Bonnie Hofstra (Mike Seibert) of Mattawan, Christina Hofstra (Paul) Khan of Orlando,  FL. and Laura (Mark) Vosters of Traverse City, MI.
3 grandsons, Mark Andrew (Amy) Dulik from Muskegon and living at Lake Brownwood, caring for their grandmother. Also, Matthew (Rebecca) Vosters and Austin Avery Lawrence. Her brother Leonard (Wanda) Auer, one niece, Treasa Auer (Rodney) Schaus, one grand nephew, McCormick Schaus and one sister in law, Martha Westdorp, and her step-daughter, Dale (Jim) (Daryl) Ray-Snyder. She aslo leaves behind her dedicated poodles, Bella & Dinah. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gerald Henry Hofstra and Stanley Ross Barber, one daughter Elizabeth Ann Dulik Lindberg, one niece Janyce Lyn Auer, and one grand niece Elizabeth Harley Schaus.

Ann was a dedicated church organist and back up pianist for Open Bible, Covey Hill and Calvary Baptist Church of Paw Paw, spanning 5 decades. She was a gifted musician.  She composed a full hymnal (complete,unpublished) words and music, a labor of love for Christ her Savior. She recorded Christmas songs & her original hymns on tape for friends and acquaintances with her beloved friend, Evonne Grooten for over 15 Christmas seasons.

Ann so enjoyed a career in real estate as a salesperson, then Broker, working for Bertolissi Realtors and Barber & Barber Real Estate Co. She loved showing lake properties, occasionally by boat.

She enjoyed 44 years of lake living on Lake Brownwood in Paw Paw MI, swimming and boating with her beloved dogs.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service and burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care of Van Buren County.
