Tony passed away suddenly, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his home. He was born Oct. 31, 1941 in Paw Paw the son of the late George and Felicia (Pelczar) Podkol. Tony was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. After the service he was employed at Frontenac Winery and late was the custodian for St. Mary's Church and school. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Paw Paw, the Knights of Columbus Council #3798 and a Fourth Degree member of K of C Assembly #0522, Paw Paw and the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Mary's Church. . Tony enjoyed traveling up north, hunting, fishing, gardening, coaching his children and Notre Dame sports. On October 2, 1965 in Paw Paw, Tony was united in marriage to Joyce M. Rishel, who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Christina (Jeff) Hypnar of Plainwell; Suzanne (Jason) Boyer of Gobles, and Kimberly (Stephen) Wolownik of Mattawan; 2 sons, Thomas (Katherine) Podkol of Grand Rapids, and Kevin (Marjorie) Podkol of Portage; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Antoinette "Toni" Dibble of Vicksburg and Betty Laudenslager of Texas Twp.; 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Podkol in1974. Family will receive friends Monday (7/25) 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a K of C Rosary will be held Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw with military honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Anthony Podkol memorial fund at Keystone Community Bank for a charity to be determined.
