June 12, 1925 — November 11, 2023

Paw Paw

Archibald Robert Earl, 98, of Paw Paw, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home.

He was born June 12, 1925, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Archibald Jeffrey Earl and Alta Margaret (Ayling) Earl.

Archibald was proud to have served in the Army during WWII. After his time in the service, he graduated from Michigan State University with a Master's Degree in horticulture. He worked as the lead director for the Van Buren County Extension Service until his retirement. Between his job and being a Paw Paw resident since 1955, he could confidently say he knew almost everyone in Van Buren County. Archibald was awarded with two exceptional awards during his time working for the county, the Distinguished Faculty Award and the Distinguished Service Award, presented to him from Michigan State University. He was very proud to have won these awards as they were not given to just anybody. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking and tending to his gardens. When he retired, he and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in the warm sun of Arizona.

He is survived by his daughter; Lucy (Steve) Norton, son; Thad Earl, two grandchildren; Matthew Norton and Savannah (Jermiah) Wood, and two great-grandchildren; Kira Wood and Anthony Wykstra.

Archibald was preceded in death by his beloved wife; Marie (Bothwell) Earl and one brother; Thad Joseph Earl, MD.

Cremation has taken place. Per Archibald's wishes, there will be no public services at this time. Archibald will be laid to rest at Griffith Cemetery in Springport, Michigan at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Centrica Care Navigators.
