Paw Paw
Betty passed away Thursday evening, August 23, 2013 at the home of her grandson after a brief illness. She was born February 18, 1933 in Louisville, KY the daughter of the late Charles and Margret (Moore) Burkhart and was a longtime resident of Louisville moving to Paw Paw in 1990. She enjoyed playing bingo, casino's, cooking, watching WWF wrestling her feline friends and most of all her children. On February 3, 1962 in Louisville, KY Betty was united in marriage to Clyde E. Close who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death a son, James Murphy. Surviving are 2 daughters, Cheryl M. Combs of Paw Paw and Cynthia J. Campbell of Lawrence; 3 sons, William Ray Underwood of Louisville, David W. Underwood of Paw Paw and Clyde A. Close of Louisville; brother, Charles Burkhart of Mt. Washington, KY; sister, Shirley Needy of Louisville, KY; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday (Aug. 27) 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where the funeral service will follow visitation at the Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Cuddeback Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
