Brian Scott Longshore, 45, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Ely Manor in Allegan after a courageously fought battle with a rare genetic disorder.
He was born August 31, 1980, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Scott Longshore and Evie (Verburg) Longshore.
A true inspiration, Brian was born legally blind and diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at a young age. Brian never let this slow him down and it certainly did not define who he truly was. After graduating from Paw Paw High School in the year 2000 he worked at Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw, owned his own home, and was independent for much of his life. Brian never complained once about his disabilities and conquered anything he put his mind to.
He loved riding his quad runner around his parents property while growing up. He enjoyed music and could sing almost every 90’s country song word for word. He also loved spending time at the beach in South Haven with his mom, helping his dad out at the Paw Paw Fire Department with Spaghetti Dinners and all his adventures with his Aunt Chrissy. Brian loved all animals and often enjoyed helping around his family hobby farm. As a child, he had a dog named Chance, who was his best friend for 16 years. After Chance he adopted a Bassitt hound, Daisy, who would be his companion for several years.
Brian had the kindest heart and did not have a mean bone in his body. He had a great sense of humor and is described by his parents as "Never the problem child". Brian fought hard until the very end. He will be deeply missed but will live on as an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Scott and Evie Longshore; brother, Jake (Alexis) Longshore; sister, Ashley (Heath) Pingel; nephews, Kash and Bo Longshore and niece, Lennox Pingel, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brian was preceded in passing by his grandparents, Maurice & Ina Longshore, Connie & Ray Arndt, Marinus "Rene" Verburg and Joann Verburg-Henry; uncles, Rene Verburg and Bud Morrow and aunt, Arlene Verburg.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Odell officiating. Brian will be laid to rest at Almena Cemetery. Friends and Family are encouraged to gather at the Paw Paw Conservation Club, 56222 30th Street, Paw Paw for a luncheon immediately following.
