Cameron Michael Serba

b. February 9, 1990

Grand Rapids

Cameron Michael Serba, 35, of Grand Rapids, passed away suddenly at his home in Grand Rapids.

He was born February 9, 1990, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Kelly Serba and Makrina (Watson) Conklin.

Cameron spent his younger years in Saginaw and Decatur with his mother, stepfather and three younger siblings (Jordan, Brianna, and Amanda Jo). Cameron spent the majority of his teenage years exploring the woods at his home with his siblings. He would also go deer hunting with his stepfather and even shot his first buck on their property.

Cameron graduated from Decatur High School in 2008. Cameron was an outstanding wrestler who helped to win the Regional Championship and qualified for state two years. He then went on to attend Muskegon Community College and wrestle. He transferred to Grand Valley State University to wrestle and complete his education. He and his childhood best friend, Robert, mentored and helped coach young wrestling teams after college. Cameron was an entrepreneur always thinking of ways to earn a dollar. He initially worked in the family painting business until he established his own business.

Cameron was the heart and soul of his music festival community—a true patriarch whose friendships blossomed into a vast extended family. His passion for creating an atmosphere of love, joy, and the best vibes was unmatched. Cameron had a gift for ensuring that everyone around him felt seen, safe, and celebrated. He led with kindness, laughter, and a radiant spirit that never wavered, always making sure that his circle was surrounded by happiness and positive energy. He looked out for everyone, often putting their needs above his own, and built a community bound by love, loyalty, and unforgettable memories.

Cameron lived for the outdoors. He was in his element hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, playing frisbee and disc golf, and simply soaking in the beauty of nature. In recent years, his love for fly fishing and grouse hunting with his dad and the Watershed community had flourished, becoming a cherished part of his life and his connection with family and friends. Wherever Cameron went, he built connections and formed lasting bonds; creating community wasn’t something he did—it was who he was.

Cameron had a strong relationship with his younger siblings and would spend the holiday dinners sharing stories, games, and rough housing. He would often bring his dog Rue, who would play with his mother’s dogs. Regularly on Mother’s Day, Cameron would hunt morel mushrooms with the family. Cameron would get so excited when he found a large amount of mushrooms.

Of all the relationships Cameron nurtured, none was as profound as the one he shared with Jordan. Cameron wasn’t just a brother; he was Jordan’s best friend, mentor, and steadfast rock. Their bond was unbreakable, a deep-rooted connection that never faltered through life’s challenges. Cameron would go to any length to support Jordan, offering guidance, laughter, and unconditional love. His presence was a constant source of strength and comfort, a role he embraced wholeheartedly and with immeasurable pride.

Cameron also found joy in celebrating life's milestones with others, once becoming an ordained minister to officiate the wedding of a dear friend—an honor he cherished deeply. He was a devoted dog dad, showering his beloved pup with affection and adventures.

Cameron was a life member of the Decatur VFW Auxiliary.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Makrina and Kevin Conklin; father and stepmother, Kelly and Darcy Serba; siblings, Jordan Serba (Dalton Brockway), Brianna (Kayden) McClish, Amanda Jo Conklin, Shanna Grubaugh and his stepbrother, Michael (Kelsey) Nelles.
