Carol Ann Maidment

September 16, 1954 — October 6, 2025

Lawton

Carol Ann Maidment, 71, of Lawton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

She was born September 16, 1954, in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of Robert Colasinski and Joanne (Green) Colasinski.

Carol’s faith was important to her throughout her life, and she maintained a special connection to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Paw Paw. She was a devoted mother who poured her heart into raising her children, always putting their needs before her own and showing them the true meaning of love, strength, and perseverance. She showed up for her kids in every way, supporting them wholeheartedly in whatever they were interested in, always their biggest fan and constant source of encouragement.

Carol loved going on adventures, whether exploring Michigan’s beautiful lakes and beach towns or traveling to visit her children, she never passed up an opportunity to see new things.

Carol always made sure she smelled the best and was very particular about her lotion and candle scents. She also loved going for walks with Lee, bird watching, and admiring flowers or the fall foliage. A favorite tradition of hers was attending the Tulip Festival each year.

Carol was loyal to her beloved State of Michigan. She cheered proudly for her home teams, especially the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Western Michigan Hockey, even making sure to write down the times of every game so she wouldn’t miss them. She truly enjoyed the beauty and scenery of Michigan and all that it had to offer!

Above all else, Carol loved and cherished her family. She always made time to hang out with them and never missed a family gathering with her siblings. She especially loved taking her two grandsons to the Zoo and Cedar Point!

She is survived by her loving partner, Lee Schafer; children, Sara (Joshua Garman) Maidment; Nick (Leah Oscar-Maidment) Maidment, and Robert (Samantha) Maidment; grandsons, Oliver and William Maidment and eight siblings, Steve (Amy) Colasinski, Paul Colasinski, Greg (Melissa) Colasinski, Tom Colasinski, Joe (Julie) Colasinski, Kay (Robert) Doty, Julie (Scott) Slusser and Suzi (Joe) Trzcinski; along with nieces and nephews who she adored.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.
