Douglas James Mott, 54, of Gobles, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his home in Gobles.

He was born January 26, 1972, in Santa Monica, California, the son of Richard Earl Mott and Patricia (Bellane) Stump.

Doug suffered a life changing spinal injury at a young age that left him wheelchair bound; however, it never slowed him down. Music was Doug's biggest passion, performing as a D.J. and a talented guitar player. He loved participating in drag racing and anything that had to do with fast cars! He could often be found watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball and made numerous friendships during his time playing. Doug took pride in his collection of guns, each one of them being meticulously cared for. He loved animals and was often called the "dog whisperer", as every dog always loved him.

Despite all of life's challenges, Doug was a positive person no matter what. He was a motivational speaker and was adored for his strength, resilience, and ability to see in good in everything and everyone. Although Doug's story was far from over, his perseverance and powerful spirit will be carried on through his cherished family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Mott; daughter, Destiny Mott; grandchildren, Avah, Camden, Karlee, Shelby, Lilly, Seth, and Bella; sister, Aimee (Simon) Drake; mother, Patricia Stump, and beloved K-9 companion, Maple.

Doug was preceded in passing by his father, Richard Mott and dogs, Carma and Max.

In accordance with Doug's wishes, cremation will take place and he will be scattered in the serene water of the Pacific Ocean. The family is planning a celebration of life for a later date. Please check back.
