Elmer George Kroeg, 98, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Maple Lake Assisted Living in Paw Paw.
He was born August 21, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of John Kroeg and Katherine (Stein) Kroeg.
Elmer was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving in World War II. After his military service, he was a member of the American Legion. Elmer was a well-known barber on the Westside of Kalamazoo. He loved his job and enjoyed getting to know his clients, who often became his friends. His favorite hobby was raising orchids in his green house.
He is survived by his two sons, Dennis (Margaret) Kroeg and Randall (Janice) Kroeg; grandchildren, Jayme (Lee) Haefner and Breanna (Mike) Byrd, and great-grandchildren, Arielle (Jason), Lilee, Sadee, Brantley, Noralynne and Waylon.
Elmer was preceded in passing by his parents, wife, Hildegard Kroeg in 1997, and siblings, Margaret, Richard, Robert, and Janis.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 721 Pine Street, Paw Paw, where a funeral service will commence at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Couch officiating. Elmer will be laid to rest next to his wife at Almena Cemetery immediately following.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Maple Lake Assisted Living and CorsoCare Hospice for their outstanding care given to Elmer during his final days.
