Ethel Frances Sanders

Ethel Frances Sanders, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many, passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on February 3, 1950, in Joliet, Illinois, to Raymond and Betty (Coarthey) Sanders. Fran's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit.

Fran's early years were spent in her family home, where she was raised alongside her 4 siblings. She graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 1968, where she formed lifelong friendships and discovered her passion for learning. She went on to attend Davenport University, demonstrating her commitment to education by coming within four classes of achieving her Bachelor's Degree.

Fran's professional life was marked by her dedication and hard work. She served as a bookkeeper with the Van Buren County Department of Human Services, where she was known for her attention to detail. Her commitment to serving her community extended beyond her career as she took on the role of Paw Paw Township Trustee, serving two terms from 2016 to 2024. Her contributions to the community were meaningful and her presence will be missed by many.

Family was the cornerstone of Fran's life. She was a loving mother to her children, Rebecca Payne and the late Johnathan Payne, and a devoted grandmother to Aleesya McIntyre and Josephine Payne. She shared a special bond with her sister, Teresa Sanders, cherishing the moments they spent together. Fran was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Billy and Raymond, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.

Fran Sanders will be remembered for her warmth, her dedication to her family and community, and the love she shared with those around her. She will forever hold a place in our hearts.
