Eva Guerra

Eva Guerra, 47, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after a courageous 7-year long battle with cancer.

She was born June 1, 1979, in Dowagiac, Michigan, the daughter of Eusebio Guerra Jr. and Maria de Jesus (Aguinaga) Guerra.

Eva worked as a Medical Assistant for many years before becoming a Teacher’s Assistant, helping in the special education classrooms. Eva loved her job and each child she encountered was met with her kindness and warmth.

Eva participated in many different activities throughout the years. She enjoyed hanging out outdoors. She liked to go to the beach and tan in the sun, kayak, swim in the pool and camp. She truly appreciated nature and everything it had to offer. She was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed watching a game. Eva also loved to dance. At every occasion and party, Eva was dancing no matter what. She vacationed in Florida and visited her relatives in Texas often and liked to travel wherever she could.

Eva's faith was very important to her and she was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hartford. She served as a Youth Group Leader and a First Communion Catechist. Eva was also a Cursillista, a title that brought her even closer to God. She was very involved with her church and volunteered at many events.

Eva's light and inspiration were her five children. Being a mom was her favorite role above anything else. Her children truly were the center of her world.

A strong and resilient woman, Eva fought until the very end and never lost her kind and loving spirit. She will live on as an example of what a truly incredible and courageous person looks like.

She is survived by her five children, Lila Mancera, Lexis Mancera-Guerra, Oscar Mancera-Guerra, Jaslene Mancera, and Jeselle Mancera; husband, Silvestre Mancera; siblings, Maria Guerra, Juan Manuel Cripin, Andy Guerra and Cindy Ramirez; mother, Maria De Jesus Guerra; and best friends, Tonia Arnold, Irasema Martinez, and Areli Torres.

Eva was preceded in passing by her father, Eusebio Guerra Jr; aunts, Eva Guerra and Mage Guerra; and uncles, Gustavo Guerra and Oscar Guerra.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 63559 60th Avenue, Hartford, with Rev. Fr. Jacob Thomas officiating. The family kindly asks you to wear bright colors instead of black in memory of Eva.
