Florence Joanne Kucinich

Florence Joanne Kucinich of Mattawan, Michigan passed away in Kalamazoo on May 23, 2025, at the age of 94.

She was born on February 24, 1931, to Steve and Virginia (Lizik) Fialkowski of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Florence attended St. Michael’s Archangel Catholic School and graduated from Jones Commercial High School.

Florence was united in marriage with Edward Kucinich of Mattawan, Michigan on November 25, 1950. They remained together in Mattawan on the family farm until Edward’s passing on October 12, 2011. Florence was a charter member of St. John Bosco Church and the St. Rita’s Guild.

Florence is survived by her four children, Stephen Kucinich of Kalamazoo, Michael (Leslie) Kucinich of Kalamazoo, Jacquelyn (Donald) Davis of Portage, John (Maureen) Kucinich of Avon, NC; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Trevor) Klimek, Elizabeth Kucinich, Brian (Carmen) Kucinich, Rebecca (Bob) Garvelink, Thomas (Faye) Davis, Andrew Kucinich, Matthew (Carleigh) Kucinich, and twelve great grandchildren, Theo, Liam, Lenix, Alexander, Gabriel, Bryson, Maddie, Blake, Luke, Wesley, Brynn, Anna, Lilah, Jenna; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her two sisters Marie (Russell) Royer and Christine (Claude) LoPiccolo.

A memorial mass will be held at St. John Bosco Church in Mattawan on Saturday May 31, 2025, at 11 AM followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Paw Paw and a luncheon at St. John Bosco.
