Gary Bain

Gary passed away Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2011 after a brief illness at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born April 28, 1935 in Chicago, IL the son of the Late Michael J. and Fannie M (Pavesich) Bain. Gary was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, OK and was a member of the U.S. Army marksmanship team. He was a butcher for many years before owning and operating the C & G Party store in Paw Paw retiring from the store in 1997. He enjoyed playing golf, and various card games. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Paw Paw, the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post #68 Paw Paw and the Paw Paw Lions Club. On Nov. 30, 1957 in Paw Paw Gary was united in marriage to Cecilia K. Kowalski who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Sandra (Randy) Reszka of Gaylord, Michael (Pamela) Bain of Paw Paw, Janice (Randy) VanDam of Kalamazoo and Joseph (Tina) Bain of Paw Paw; 7 grandchildren, Jonathon, Katie, Eric, Kevin, Natalie, Kelly Rose and Kylee; many special friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Rose Bain. Family will receive friends Sunday, 5-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a vigil service will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, (7/18) 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, Paw Paw.
