Bolton and Nita (Hale) Bolton, he was a graduate of Niles Brandywine High School, Class of 1971. George was proud of his community college roots and started his higher education at Southwestern Michigan College. He went on to earn a BA from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Nazareth University. On May 1, 1976, he was united in marriage with Catherine (Kaiser) Bolton of Paw Paw, Michigan, who survives him.
