JoAnn (Kobe) Smith

JoAnn (Kobe) Smith, 91 of Paw Paw, passed away May 2, 2023. She was born to the late Frank and Jennie Kobe. She worked at her parent’s root beer stand; The Big Barrell Drive Inn. She later retired from McKenzie Insurance in 1993. She was a longtime member of Saint Mary Catholic Church. She loved all of the flowers in her yard, gardening, cooking and entertaining. On April 11, 1953, she married Charles F. Smith who preceded her in death in 2020.

She is survived by her daughter, Tonda (Louis) Smith-Koshar, son, Michael Smith, five grandchildren, Steven (Monica) Barrett, Brianna (Jordan) Chopp, Jenna (Alex) Kahila, Annalice White and Selina (Ruben) Hernandez, seven great grandchildren, Kylee, Jayda, Alexa, Hudson, Aubree, Royce and Amara, along with her sister, Florence (Kobe) Lewis, her canine companion, Sami, and her best friend, Linda Scotese. JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Richard Smith, sister, Dorothy (Kobe) Mroczek and her parents, Frank and Jennie Kobe.

Cremation has taken place. JoAnn will be laid to rest at Wildey Cemetery at a later date.
