Julio Cesar Martinez, 38, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday July 8, 2025, at University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor following a tragic accident.
He was born September 14, 1986, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Luis Antonio Martinez and Rosa Olivia (Serna) Almaguer.
Julio Martinez was a deeply selfless and compassionate soul, known for his generous heart and unwavering kindness. Whether it was offering his own shoes to someone in need or lending a helping hand without hesitation, Julio’s spirit of giving touched countless lives. His legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Julio was a devoted father and best friend to his son, Gabrial Cesar Martinez. Their bond is unbreakable, and the love they shared was the center of Julio’s world. He was also a proud rescue dad to his beloved Pitbull, Bella, whom he saved from North Carolina. His love for animals reflected his gentle heart, and his loyalty and care for his family and friends knew no bounds.
A cherished son, father, brother, uncle, partner, and friend, Julio brought warmth and light to all who knew him. He was a dedicated employee of The Taplin Group for 18 years, where he built lasting friendships. Outside of work, Julio enjoyed staying active at the gym, playing video games especially with his son, nephews, and brother Carlos. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider who looked forward to his annual trip to Daytona Bike Week.
He is lovingly survived by his son, Gabrial Cesar Martinez; Mother, Rosa Almaguer; Step-father Jesus Armando Almaguer, his sisters, Ginger (Daniel) Vallejo, Jessica (Javier) Galaviz, Bianca (late Gabriel) Brooks, and Ashley Martinez; his brothers, Carlos (Stephanie) Barbosa and Luis Martinez Jr.; his partner, Sarah Oakley; and many treasured nieces, nephews, great nephews, and extended family who love him deeply.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., with cremation to take place afterward.
Julio’s presence will be deeply missed, but his love, kindness, and memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
