Lurlene “Kitty” Hubbard, of Mattawan, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on June 14, 2026. She was 94 years old.
Kitty was born on March 2, 1932, in Branch County, Michigan, to Nelson and Ethel (Mellinger) Kinter.
She is survived by her four children and step daughter; Gary (Kelly) Kaser, Craig Kaser, Kurt (Lynn) Kaser, Kent (Brenda) Kaser, and Lynn (Hubbard) Coy; twelve grandchildren; Kristyn (Derek) Clark, Alison Kaser, Alexandria Kaser, Tera (Tim) Crichton, Ashley (Stephan) Vanspronsen, Amanda Kaser, and Andrew Kaser, Glenn (Lisa) Gast; Colleen Gast, Brandon Coy, Evan Long, Shannon Asselin, and thirteen great- grandchildren; Kain Culver, Keeland Culver, Madison Crichton, McKinley Crichton, Taylor Vanspronsen, Kolton Vanspronsen, Kaelyn Baranoski, Kylee Baranoski, Kyle Gast, Katara Gast, Ethan Strader, Dylan Richards, Alyssa Asselin, Christopher Asselin, and Graham Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Marlin “Spike” Hubbard; three sisters; and two brothers; and one step-daughter; Karen Long.
Kitty was raised in Bronson and graduated from Bronson High School, where she proudly served as the drum majorette for the high school band. She married Malcolm Kaser and eventually moved to the Mattawan area. In 1976, she married Marlin “Spike” Hubbard and remained a longtime resident of Mattawan. Kitty was the managing partner of Campbell-Murch Insurance Agency in Mattawan before retiring.
In retirement, she and Spike enjoyed spending time boating in St. Joseph and creating cherished memories with family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who deeply loved her family. Kitty also enjoyed boating, baking, bowling and helping others.
She will be fondly remembered throughout the Mattawan community for her volunteer work with the Mattawan Fire Department, her involvement with Spike’s Service, and her willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
