Marie Carolyn Walker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 92, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Bickford Senior Living in Battle Creek.
She was born July 5, 1933, in Doster, Michigan, the daughter of Carl Wahmhoff and Mildred (Hessling) Wahmhoff.
Marie grew up during the Great Depression and World War II and witnessed immense changes throughout her lifetime. She adapted with grace, never afraid to learn the new ways or embrace something unfamiliar. An extremely hard worker, Marie held many jobs raising seven children and managing the household while her husband traveled for work. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith, with a deep and abiding love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and volunteered at church events.
A classy and elegant woman, she enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She was an excellent cook, and no one ever left her home hungry. Marie and her late husband, Hal, especially loved to dance together.
Marie was kind, loving, and blessed with a great sense of humor. She laughed often, even at herself, and brought joy to those around her. She was always busy with a task or activity, even in her later years. Besides her faith, above all else, family was the center of her universe. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She hosted many family get-togethers and cherished the times spent with everyone. Marie will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
She is survived by her children, Rob (Deb) Walker, Rick Walker, Brian "Terry" (Tammy) Walker, Alana (Tobin) Braun, Dave (Lori) Walker, and Steve (Lynnette) Walker; grandchildren, Patty, Ryan, Craig, Emily, Katie, Kevin, Nate, Alyssa, Jennifer, Kelsey, Mitchell, Kailey, Erik, Madison, Cameron, Devin, Kierra, Amber, Jordan, Sydney and Brooklyn; 13 great-grandchildren and siblings, Joe Wahmhoff, Gerry Wahmhoff, Ellie Krezenski, Lucy Remington, Rita Wahmhoff and Barb Wahmhoff-Maury; along with many nieces and nephews.
Marie is preceded in passing by her parents, husband, Hal Walker in 1998; son, James "Jim" Walker; grandsons, Michael and Tyler Walker, and many brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. A Rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 209 S. Brown Street, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. David Pinto officiating. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
