Mary Bell Smead

Mary B. Smead, 90, of Paw Paw, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Golden Shore in Benton Harbor.

She was born April 3, 1936, in Marion, Kentucky, the daughter of Sidney Watson and Tidy (Rogers) Watson.

Mary was an avid Bingo player and never missed an opportunity to play. She loved to decorate her apartment for every season and matched everything to the season, even down to the curtains. She was affectionately known as the "crazy old granny". Mary adored her family and spending time with them. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

She is survived by her children, Sheila Penn, Brenda Carlson-Smead, and Steven Smead; along with many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in passing by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
