Michael Alan Sherburn, 66, of Lawton, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of February 17, 2026.
Born November 7, 1959, in Kalamazoo, Michael was the son of Charles and Mary Sherburn of Paw Paw. He began school at St. Mary in Paw Paw and later attended Paw Paw High School, where he entered the HVAC program. That path led to a lifelong career in heating and cooling, eventually becoming the proud owner and operator of his own business.
Mike married Brenda Lepley of Lawton, Michigan, and together they had three children: Steven (Katie) Sherburn, Christopher (Kristen) Sherburn, and Sara (Elliott) Heiney. Though their marriage changed, Mike and Brenda remained best friends. She was by his side at the time of his passing, reflecting the lasting friendship and companionship they shared throughout life.
Family meant everything to Mike. Of all the roles he held, “Papa” was the one he cherished most. His greatest joys were his seven grandchildren: Cooper, Carissa, Ethan, Crew, Harlyn, Millie, and Harper. He treasured every moment spent with them. He also embraced two neighbor boys, Bill and Brad Kidd, loving them as if they were his own. Mike enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams, snowmobiling, camping, and traveling to northern Michigan with family and friends.
Mike will be remembered for his hard work, loyalty, deep love for his family, the joy he brought to others, his long drives to smell nature’s colors, and his unwavering confidence that anything could be done — tomorrow.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family plans to host a celebration of life at a later date.
