passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lawton, MI. Pat was born September 6, 1936 in Dowagiac, MI, the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Huff) Garrett. Pat worked for many years as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service, based out of the Lawton Post Office. She enjoyed camping and was a member of the SW Michigan Snow Stompers Club where she loved to go snowmobiling and four wheeling. Pat was also a long time member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. On July 3, 1951, Pat was united in marriage to her loving husband of 60 years, Edward Cerny, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Patricia (Wally) Mayne, Debra (Richard) Brown and Charles Cerny; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Cerny and brother, Warren Garrett. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends on Monday (4/9) from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will follow at 1:00pm, Rev. Ron Packer officiating. Interment will take place at a later date, Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lawton, in Patricia's honor.
