September 9, 1939 — November 17, 2023

Paw Paw

Our dear mother Patricia “Patty” Anita Burza sadly passed away on November 17, 2023, at the age of 84. Patricia was born September 9, 1939, to Harriet Irene Kaiser and Charles Franklin Hoger of Paw Paw, Michigan. She was raised in Paw Paw with her two older sisters: Shirley and Jacquelyn. Patty graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1957. Patricia had a long career in operations and management at Humphry Products company in Kalamazoo.

Her first husband was Ted Johnson of Kalamazoo, with whom she raised two boys: Edward “Jed” Johnson and Brett Hoger Johnson. Ted and Patty eventually divorced and parted ways amicably.

Patty was also briefly married to Alan Arvidson of Kalamazoo, with whom they shared a daughter: Alayna Jo Gonzalez.

Her true soulmate was her husband Donald “Don” Burza of Gobles, Michigan. Don and Patty had a long, strong and loving marriage. They were ideal partners and shared all of life’s joys, sorrows and challenges together.

Patricia was a wonderful mother, who was always there when we needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community. She enjoyed arts and crafts of all sorts and volunteered her time at her local church with love and joy.

Patty was preceded in death by her husband Donald Burza, her older sister Shirley Burza and her daughter-in-law Dyana Johnson (wife of her son Brett). She is survived by her sister Jacquelyn Woodruff of Burlington, NC, her children Edward “Jed” Johnson, Brett Hoger Johnson (Sandra) and Alayna Jo Gonzalez; and three grandchildren: Edward, Jeremiah and Zechariah.

A memorial was held in the Spring of 2024.
