Paul Raymond Gladysz, 66, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at his Maple Lake residence. In November 2022, Paul was diagnosed as being afflicted with stage 4 prostate cancer and given six months to live. Never one to back down from life's challenges, Paul faced the cancer on his own terms under the care of oncologists and staff personnel who respected his commitment to maintaining quality of life. He maintained a relatively normal lifestyle throughout the past two and a half years since his diagnosis and passed away comfortably and unexpectedly in his sleep.
He was born August 13, 1958, in Paw Paw, Michigan, the son of Arthur Gladysz and Ann (Ledesky) Gladysz.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Paw Paw, graduating from Paw Paw High School in the class of 1976. Prior to attending high school Paul was a student at St. Mary's Catholic School and served St. Mary's Church as an altar boy. He grew up and worked for decades at the family business, the Dyckman House. After his father passed away, Paul took over stewardship of the business. Along with his brother, Joe, they transformed the Dyckman House into the most popular gathering spot in the greater Paw Paw area. Paul was in the process of restoring and improving the building on the main four corners of town to continue its well over a century of history when the decision was made to sell the property.
Following his tenure at the Dyckman House Paul continued to use his woodworking and carpentry skills in the modular home industry and as a self-employed craftsman. He thoroughly enjoyed and was very proficient at shooting pool and riding and working on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Paul continued to participate in these endeavors until the day he was called home by his maker.
He is survived by his two sons, Benjamin Gladysz and Jacob Gladysz; mother, Ann Gladysz; sister, Bonnie (Gerald) Bass; cousins, Ken and Tim Gladysz and longtime friend, Chas Catherman.
Paul was preceded in death by his infant son, Andrew Gladysz; brothers, Eric and Joseph Gladysz and father, Arthur Gladsyz.
