Paul John Schauer, 61, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his home. Paul was born October 30, 1962, in Kalamazoo, the son of Paul and Dixie (Mahar) Schauer. Paul graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1980.  He worked for Rose’s Automotive and then went on to faithfully serve his country in the United States Army from 1982-1992, in various overseas locations. On June 24, 2000, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Paw Paw, Paul was united in marriage to Kimberly (Healy), who survives. Also surviving are his children, Taylor Schauer, Paul (Madison) Jaco and Jonathan Jaco; one granddaughter Olive Rae Jaco; his parents, Paul and Dixie Schauer; a sister, Mary Strand; nieces and nephews, Cory Strand, Casey Wallace, Cameron Strand, Sydney Schauer, Joshua Schauer, Jessica Madill, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins; he is also survived by his lifelong friend, Bo George. Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph. 

Paul worked for the Carpenters Union for 24 years and could fix nearly anything. He loved sports including NASCAR and especially Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears. He also was an avid snowmobiler in his younger years and enjoyed, camping, golf, and boating.

Family and friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 502 W. Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, MI 49079, where a Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Paul will be laid to rest with full military honors at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. For those attending the committal please arrive at the assembly area by 10:15 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Fort Custer National Cemetery endowment fund.
