Bob passed away Thursday morning, June 2, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born June 6, 1938 in South Haven the son of the late Carlo and Charlotte (King) Rasmussen. After serving in the U.S. Army Bob was a graduate of the Michigan State Police Academy in 1965 and was stationed at Battle Creek, Erie and Paw Paw retiring in March of 1984. He was a member of the Michigan State Police Troopers Association and the Paw Paw-Lawton Eagles Aerie # 4310. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking making bird houses. On July 18, 1987 in Paw Paw Bob was united in marriage to Roberta Sampsell who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steven Rasmussen of Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Susan Johnson (Rick Riegle) of Paw Paw; step-daughters, Rebecca Martin and Jessica Martin (EJ McLemore) both of Paw Paw; 2 grandchildren, Karlee and Braydn Martin. A Friendship hour will be held Sunday, (June 5) 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the Paw Paw-Lawton Eagles (M-40 South of Paw Paw) followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ron Packer officiating. Military honors and a luncheon will follow the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Paw Paw-Lawton Eagles Aerie # 4310 or the MSP Trooper Teddy Bear program.
