Mattawan

Robert "Bucky" Clark, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor on Sunday, September 17, 2023.  Bucky was born on June 23, 1944 to Roscoe (Moe) and Evelyn Clark in Kalamazoo, MI.  He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1962.

Bucky was an entrepreneur and owned Stoneridge Inn in Mattawan.  He worked and managed The Final Curtain.  He also worked at Timber Ridge Ski Lodge.  Bucky was a ski instructor and traveled Europe taking advantage of many ski slopes.  He loved traveling to different places and always had great stories to tell.  He was co-owner with Walter Johns for the concessions on North Beach in South Haven and also ran the concessions at Wings Stadium; all while guiding others to become successful business owners.  Bucky brought in a chef from the San Francisco area which pulled in patrons from Chicago and beyond to taste his culinary delights.  He was also in the process of writing a book to include all his personal recipes but did not have the time to finish it.

Cooking was his main passion which showed in his vast collection of cookbooks.  Bucky loved entertaining his family and friends, which meant his favorite part of the party was cooking for them.  Nothing made him happier than to see everyone's stomach "full!".  His talent for woodworking enabled him to build his first home in Mattawan on County Road 652, renovate the entire inside of Stoneridge Inn, and completely redo his last home.  Buck was a big fan of the University of Michigan and Western Michigan University.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma (Arkie) Hardesty; brothers, John (Jennie) Clark, Everett Clark, Roscoe Clark, Jr.; sister, Shirley James; sister-in-law, Susan Clark and brother-in-law, Tim Hanley.

He is survived by his sisters, Wanda (Wiley) White of Hudson, FL, Donna (Don) Anselmo of Portage, MI, Bonnie Hanley of Houghton Lake, MI; brother, Terry Clark of Kalamazoo, MI and brother-in-law, Fred James of Kalamazoo, MI.  He leaves many nieces and nephews.

Bucky was baptized Catholic.  We want to thank Father Jorgensen from St. John Boscoe Church in Mattawan, MI for administering Bucky's last sacraments at his home and talking with him.  A special "Thank You" goes to his primary caregiver, Donna Anselmo and Bucky's closest friends, who also helped in the care of Bucky.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.  There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Rose Arbor.  Services entrusted to Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw, MI  49079.
