Ruby Jewel Buentello

Ruby Jewel Buentello (Collins), 76, passed away unexpectedly on July 29th, 2025, at her home in Mattawan, Michigan.

Ruby was born on April 23rd, 1949, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Martha Jane Hoffman and Floyd Collins.

There was nothing more that Ruby loved than her family, specifically, her grandchildren. A wearer of many hats, Ruby knew - and did, pretty much everything. Starting her life in Arkansas, her family decided to move to Decatur, Michigan. After that, they relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she graduated high school and worked as a Nurse Aid at South Shore Hospital. Later, she moved back to Michigan where she spent the rest of her life. Ruby touched the hearts of many people. She was known for her wit, endless generosity, and devotion to those she cared about. Ruby had a way about her that drew you to her. Every person she met instantly loved her, and she loved them. She was the life of the party, and her style and charisma lit up every room that she walked into. She loved butterflies, the sun, shopping, and again - her family. She was a woman who was there. It didn't matter the event, big or small, she was there.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Alex Buentello. Her sisters, Doris Collins and Laura Jones. Sons, Gordon Ramlow (Angela), Samuel Garrison (Destri), Thomas Garrison (Anna), Jeff Buentello (Sarah), and Greg Buentello. Grandchildren, Allison Ramlow, Lillian Ramlow, Summer Garrison, Nova Steenholdt, and Cooper Garrison. As well as her nieces and nephews, Krin Kendall, Cathy (Chad) Worthington, Larry Lathrop, and Jerry (Nicole) McCord. There is no end to the loving people that Ruby left behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Gary, and her brother, Thomas Jones.

Friends are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life on August 8, 2025, at Lawton Evangelical Church, 425 S. Nursery Street Lawton, Michigan 49065. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. with a Service at 12:45 P.M. There will be a Luncheon to follow. Flowers can be sent and brought to this location at 9 a.m., August 8, 2025.
