Sally Kay Stewart Yarbrough, 71, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born April 15, 1954, in Cadillac, Michigan, the daughter of Robert Stewart and Maizie (McKillican) Seeber.
Sally loved to travel, especially to her cabin up north, family land in McBain, and vacationing with her grandchildren during spring break. She was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was always at family events and was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, never missing a sporting or 4-H event. She enjoyed watching all the critters that visited her at home and up north. She especially loved bird watching and collected Cardinals. She was also a huge MSU Spartan fan and learned to tolerate UofM thanks to her great-grandson Jace. Sally will be deeply missed by all her friends and family. Family meant everything to Sally, and she loved them fiercely. Sally loved to capture the moments, in her memory remember to take the picture, hug a little tighter, and kiss a little longer.
On April 5, 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Yarbrough, who survives. They spent 56 wonderful years together and have a love that is an inspiration to all.
On April 30, 2016, she retired from the Coca-Cola plant. She was employed there for 33 years and 7 months. Throughout the years many of her co-workers became long term friends and family.
She is also survived by her children, Robert (Theresa) Yarbrough Sr, Richard (Amy) Yarbrough Jr, and Stacy (Charlie Sr) Douglas, grandchildren, Robert (Melissa) Yarbrough Jr, Jared (Aubrey) Yarbrough, Daniel (Alyssa) Taylor, Stewart Yarbrough, Kailie Yarbrough, Jersie Yarbrough, Charles (Haylie) Douglas Jr and Lucas Douglas; great-grandchildren, Jace, Ashton, Jude, Elliott, Norah, Vivian and she was excited for the upcoming arrival of a great-grandson due in April; brother, Mike (Cathy) Stewart; sister, Cathy (Steve) Hoehn and her furry companions, Bella and Oreo. Sally is also survived by step siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Sally was preceded in passing by her parents (Doc and Maizie), stepfather (Bud) father-in-law (Jim) and her dear friend Julie.
Cremation will take place. A celebration of Sally's life will be held at a later date. Please check back.
Sally’s love for animals came to her naturally as her dad was a Veterinarian. As a young child she would tag along with her dad and as an adult she was his “assistant”. The Shepard’s Doghouse held a special place in Sally’s heart and provided TLC to her dog Ms. Bella.
Memorial contributions in memory of Sally may be directed to Shephard's Doghouse, 53061 60th Street, Hartford, MI 49057.
