Scott M. French, 71, of Mattawan, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
He was born September 12, 1954, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Junior B. French and Thelma Mae (Hunkins) French.
Anyone who knew Scott knew that he loved music. He played the guitar and drums and was a talented singer. He also enjoyed listening to his favorite songs. Scott was an incredibly hard worker and would work double shifts so his wife could stay home with the children. He put them first always and made sure they had everything they needed. His dad’s home was often referred to as "The Farm" and he enjoyed having his family there to hang out. Scott possessed a great sense of humor and made anyone and everyone laugh. Everyone knew Scott's infamous sayings, "Quit Pushing" and "One more pull". Scott will be deeply missed but always remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra "Sandy" (Haley) French; daughter, Angela French; son, Aaron French; grandchildren, Brady Fillingham, Ariana French, Samantha French, Ava French, and Oliver Anderson; father, Junior French; brothers, Michael French and Gary (Barb) French and furry companion, Molly.
Scott was preceded in passing by his mother, Thelma French, grandson, Alexander Scott French; and brother, Danne (Theresa) French.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. A funeral service will commence at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Packer officiating. Scott will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawton immediately following.
