Steven "Steve" Richard Tapper, 65, of Paw Paw, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

He was born October 9, 1960, in Paw Paw, Michigan, the youngest child of John H. Tapper Sr. and Jean Anne (Cavendar) Tapper.

Steve was proud to be a Tapper and was extremely dedicated to the family business, Tapper Chevy. He worked as Operations Manager of the company and enjoyed being at work every day.

Steve was a man who liked to have fun and lived life to the fullest. He liked to ride his "toys", such as four-wheelers and side-by-sides, be outside and hang out on his boat. Steve was always up for a good time no matter what it was.

Above all else, Steve was dedicated to his family, they were the center of his universe. He adored hanging out with his grandchildren and he had the most fun with them.

In 1979, Steve was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jeri (Moses) Tapper who preceded him in passing on November 1, 2016. Jeri was Steve's person. They were truly two peas in a pod and did everything together. Although Steve's departure was unexpected, the family finds comfort in knowing he is with Jeri again.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher (Ann) Tapper and Craig (Megan) Tapper; eight grandchildren, Jack, Samantha, Erin, Brooke and Colin Tapper and Mitchell, Matthew and Adeline Mooney. He is also survived by his siblings, John (Linda) Tapper Jr, Thomas (Sheryl) Tapper, Julie (late Ted) Gromek, Bill (Sue) Tapper, James (Tammy) Tapper, David (Susan) Tapper and Michael Tapper; along with countless nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in passing by his parents, John and Jean Anne Tapper; wife, Jeri Tapper; and brother, Terry (Linda) Tapper.
