Sylvia Ruth Sherburn, 90, of Lawton, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at her home in Lawton.
She was born April 9, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William Booth and Elverna (Fritz) Booth.
Sylvia was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Lawton, where she enjoyed volunteering during church events and worshipping her Lord and Savior every Sunday. A selfless individual, Sylvia spent 20 years caring for her late husband, Ken, when he became ill. She was his full time caretaker until his death.
She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida, dancing the polka, she was often referred to as the polka queen, playing any and all card games and bowling. Sylvia looked forward to time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught them all how to play card games and was very competitive! She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Robert) Lawson, Laura, Penny, and Tina Sherburn; grandchildren, Amanda Lawson, Jennee (Tim) McCormick, Dr. Katie (Michael Durall) Lawson, Kristy Sherburn, Kaleigh (Adam) Thomas, and Kenneth Jensen; great-grandchildren, Madison Lawson, Andee, Ava, and Addy McCormick, and Zoey, Skylar, and Lawson Durall; along with sister-in-law, Carol Booth.
Sylvia was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, Kenneth Lloyd Sherburn on January 18, 2003, and siblings, Ken (Mary) Booth, William Booth, Elverna (Raymond) Rank, Roberta (Don) Stanton and Robert Booth.
