Cynthia Rose (Boysen) Marcelletti

August 1, 1951 — September 4, 2020

Paw Paw

A gentle lady has passed this earthly realm.  Cynthia Rose Marcelletti of Paw Paw died peacefully September 4, 2020 with her family surrounding her.  Cindy was born August 1, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents John and Lylene (née Stowman) Boysen.

The Boysen family would return to Michigan following their military life. Cindy would proudly graduate from Paw Paw High School where she would attend her senior prom with Jeff Marcelletti.  They would part ways, but rekindle the flame years later. She and Jeff would marry in 1980. Their family was complete with the arrival of their son Drew.  Cindy’s favorite name was being called “Mom”.

Her gracious hospitality and superb culinary skills delighted family and friends. She had a knack for creating beauty, her flair lead to winning the annual community Christmas yard decorating contest numerous times. She loved and celebrated all things “Paw Paw” like the classic car cruise, the wine festival, and boating on Maple Lake, each gave her an opportunity to entertain loved ones.

Cindy was instrumental in developing educational services for students with special needs in Paw Paw. She worked relentlessly for abused children as an advocate and licensed foster home.  Cindy will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the many organizations and the church that she served.

She was a person of strong faith, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw.  From her faith, she believed “For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” (Romans 14:7-8 NIV)

Following retirement from the State of Michigan, Cindy and Jeff would enjoy their home on Maple Lake. They recently celebrated their 40 th wedding anniversary.  Most found her easy to be with and easy to love- she was fun and funny.  The totality of her life was aimed at providing a loving , nurturing family environment.

Cindy is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff, dear son, Drew, and special nephew and love Brayden.   Her sister Linda Welch also survives. She is predecessed by her parents, sister Bonny Newhouse and brother Christopher.

Cindy loved hugs.  So it is sad that in this time of COVID that we can’t hug each other as we remember her. Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service will be held Monday, September 14, 2020 at 11:00 am at Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, with Rev. Tiffany McCafferty officiating.
