Diana Marian (Hensel) Forbes

July 30, 1941 — January 6, 2020

Paw Paw

Diana Marian Forbes passed away peacefully on Monday morning. Diana was raised in the Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe. There she was involved in many church and civic activities. During a USO event she met her future husband, Richard "Dick" Forbes. After a short courtship, they were married, which in 2019, they celebrated 54 years of devoted life together. Diana and Dick moved to Paw Paw not long after Dick was discharged from the Air Force. Together they began a family consisting of Kristin and Richard Jr.
Diana enjoyed a quiet life of being a devoted wife and a stay at home mother. She was the one who made sure the children were healthy and respectful in all ways. She was the rock for Dick in many situations they encountered, bringing her faith and devotion to family life to forefront in all their endeavors. The family enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family all over the country, taking numerous trips to Florida and California. She also enjoyed going to football games with Dick to the University of Michigan. She continued to go to games with Dick many years after the children left the household till the trips became to strenuous for the small lady with the dry wit.
After Dick retired from Upjohn's, she was his navigator while they enjoyed many trips to national parks and making new friends during their travels. She enjoyed visiting family in California, during which Dick would go golfing with his brother and sister-in-law and Diana would stay, cook and enjoy the quiet with Bill and Jean's cat Cherokee. They spent many years wintering in Yuma, Arizona, where they made many new friends. Diana enjoyed working in the mail room there and decorating for Christmas for the park in which they stayed.
She is survived by her children, Kristin and Richard, grandchildren, James, Brittany, Trent and Travis. She left a legacy of faith and family devotion. Future arrangements are being made to honor her and Dick in the upcoming spring.
