Irene Marion (Chmielewski) Sitar, 89, of Paw Paw, passed away February 15, 2020. She was born in Chicago on July 12, 1930 to the late Anthony and Janina Chmielewski. In the early 1940’s her family moved to Lake Brownwood where her father opened Tony’s Resort. She graduated from Paw Paw Highschool in 1948. On December 29, 1951, Irene married Robert “Bob” Sitar in Paw Paw at Saint Mary Catholic Church. Throughout the years Irene had several jobs, including working as an assistant for Dr. Anthony Markovich, St. Julian and Frontenac Wineries as a receptionist and later working part time for VBCC as a receptionist welcoming people.
Irene enjoyed reading, search word puzzles, cooking, canning, traveling and most of all her family.
Irene is preceded in death by her mother and father, Anthony and Janina Chmielewski, her husband, Bob Sitar, son, Bobby, her daughter, Louise “Lou” Sitar, brothers Anthony and Edwin and her sister, Virginia. She is survived by her son, Tim (Barb) Sitar, grandson, Daniel, granddaughter, Amy, along with step-grandchildren, Michael (Stacy) and Jason (Tracey) Countryman, as well as 8 great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 27, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will commence at 7:30 p.m. Irene will be laid to rest at Saint Mary Cemetery with her husband Bob.
