Janet Gladys (James) Wesner

Janet Gladys Wesner, 85, of Lawrence, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at her home.

Janet was born September 30, 1936 in Birmingham, England, the daughter of Cyril James and Gladys (Turton) James.

Janet came to the United States when she was 16 years old and gained her citizenship. She was united in marriage to James Wesner on February 16, 1957, in Michigan. Janet was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working in the kitchen baking and cooking. She always looked forward to family gatherings when everyone was able to be together. She and James would enjoy many fishing trips during the summers every opportunity they had.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Wesner, one daughter, Connie (Rick) Demske; daughter in law, Joanna Wesner; five grandchildren, Dawn (Gus) Lamas, Rachel Demske, Leah Demske, Cassie (Jesse) Collins and Beth (Reuben) Blake; four great-grandchildren, Kalle, Kadin, Alli and Will.

Janet was preceded in death by her sons, David Wesner and Andrew Wesner, one grandchild, Cody, her sisters, Betty and Mabel and her brothers Kenneth and Peter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Cremation will take place. There will be a private memorial service held for close friends and family.
