Viola Ruth (Zohr) Schmidt

Viola Ruth Schmidt, 92, of Paw Paw, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020.
She was born November 17, 1927 in Lenox, MI,  the daughter of  the late Herman H. Zohr and Elsie A.(Selle) Zohr.
Viola loved being around people and playing cards, Scrabble, crossword puzzles and Bingo. Over the yeas she participated in card groups playing pinnacle and bowling. In her younger years, she and her husband, Art, enjoyed travel. Raising a family with musical interest, Viola enjoyed singing. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed outdoor activities in earlier years, boating and canoeing. Most recently, Viola enjoyed her time living at The Berkshire in Paw Paw where she had many friends.
On, February 26, 1949 in Detroit, she married Arthur Schmidt who preceded her in death in 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Caroline (Patrick) Duncan, son, Mark (Peggy) Schmidt; four grandchildren, Heather (Wagner) Parente, Heidi (Brian Hake) Duncan, Joe Broeder, Amanda Broeder; son in law, Bill Broeder; two great-grandchildren, Isabel Parente and Jasmine Parente.
Viola was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianne Broeder, one sister and two brothers.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am at the Adams Funeral Home, where a memorial service will commence at 11:00 am with Fr. Robert F. Creagan officiating.  Viola will be placed to rest at Saint Mary Cemetery in Paw Paw.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan or Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
